PROVISION OF CARE

The provision of care is divided into 3 distinct phases: Welcoming, "Homecoming" and Insertion, with activities divided according to three different age groups - children (0 to 12 years of age), youth (from 12 years of age) and families.

Projeto Quixote is especially concerned with always maintaining an integrated clinical, pedagogical and social perspective in all aspects of our work. Development is promoted with attention to questions of subjectivity, promoting the potential of the individual and contributing to the substantive transformation of their realities within personal, familial and community life.

WELCOMING/ORIENTATION
This phase begins with the arrival of a child or youth to Quixote and which can last up to 3 months. It is undertaken through various workshops (artistic, ludical and pedagogical) with the aim to get to know better each child or youth and foster the construction of bonds with Projeto Quixote. It is in this phase that youth, together with the team at Quixote, begin to build and elaborate on their life project. At the same time, Projeto Quixote enters into contact with the families, in the hopes of involving them in the process.

"HOMECOMING"
Beyond the first phase of welcoming, beings the phase we call "Casa" (Homecoming). In this phase, it can be said that the life projects of each one outlined for themselves in the initial orientation phase, begin to be put into practice, by means of individualized projects which may also include workshops and clinical treatments. The principal objective of this phase is to strengthen the bond with Projeto Quixote and to weave a relationship with other actors in the social network of children/youth (schools, families, shelters, etc), which are also references in their lives. In this phase, the life project of each one is continuously being revised, adjusted to include what has been achieved as well as new desires which are arised.

INSERTION
This phase is characterized by offering those who are attended to by Quixote, the opportunity to insert themselves in the world through different activities. In the case of youth, this is undertaken through the Education for Work Program, which seeks to prepare youth for the job market. In the case of families, it is delivered through the Income Generation Program and the Group of Mothers.

Through specific programs, we offer differentiated services for diverse people and their needs.

1. PEDAGOGICAL PROGRAM
The Pedagogical Program is for children from 0 to 12 years old and teenagers with age above 12 years old in situation of risk. It looks for acting in a preventive form, diminishing the risk of these children in the future. It is divided in three phases: "Welcome", "House" and "Insertion".

Welcome - it is the Quixote's entrance door. The children and the teenagers pass through playful workshops and interviews to initiate the process of the bond's construction between the Quixote's Project and the child or teenager to elaborate a project of individual attendance. At this phase we find out the history of each one of them, with the aim to arouse desires that make possible the elaboration of a life's project with them.

"House" - in this phase, the children and the teenagers are stimulated to participate of the workshops, in accordance with their own interests and projects of life. Quixote's Project offers workshops of graffiti (to paint with spray), break (dance), capoeira (brazilian dance/fight), multimedia (how to produce movies, photos and so on), computer science, arts, theater and cookery, besides classes of citizenship and sexual education. There are some cases where the child or teenager looks for us by their own (in a spontaneous way). The program is divided in 3 phases, however how it is delicate situation, all the attendances are taken care of individually. The attendance team is composed for highly qualified professionals, some of them from UNIFESP, such as social assistants, psychiatrists, psychologists and educators. At the same time these children/teenagers initiate other activities at the workshops of Quixote's project with the others attendances.

The main intention of the Mill of the Bixiga is to be a phase of transistion for the child, in the way of leaving the street for the return the house. This process is called "rematriamento". The Mill of Bixiga gives continuity to the work initiated in the Mill of the Light, in 2005 - through action for children and teenagers of the circuit of the streets of the region called "cracolândia", (central region of São Paulo where people take drugs), the Mill of the Light could be described as a refugee field, that it aims at to receive the complexity and urgency of this dramatical situation and to foment dignity and desire of citizenship. This new space, the Mill of the Bixiga counts on a house for twenty children who used to live at São Paulo central streets with ages between zero and eighteen incomplete years. Moreover, it offers a structure of support for the necessary workshops of attendance as complement to the work of approach/boarding children in the streets done by the staff of Mill of the Light.
